Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
Dough

  • 1 cup soft butter (softened)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Frosting

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Milk to desired consistency

Instructions

  1. Blend butter and cream cheese. 
  2. Add sugar, egg and extracts. 
  3. Mix in remaining dry ingredients and blend into the creamed mixture. Chill for 1 hour. 
  4. Roll out dough on floured surface until 1/4 inches thick (a must!) . Cut with desired cookie cutter shape and bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.
  5.  Let cookies cool.
  6. Mix all your frosting ingredients and add some food coloring if desired. Frost cookies when cool. 

Notes

  • The key to making a good sugar cookie is to make sure that you cut the cookies thick enough and then don't over cook them!
